In New South Wales, thermal imaging switchboard inspections are governed by the *Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011* (WHS Reg.)
1. Regular Inspections: Electrical equipment must be regularly inspected and tested by a competent person if it is exposed to conditions that could lead to damage or reduced lifespan, such as moisture, heat, vibration, or dust.
2. Record-Keeping: A record of testing must be kept until the equipment is next tested, permanently removed, or disposed of. The record should include the name of the person who carried out the testing, the date of the testing, the outcome, and the date of the next required testing.
3. Residual Current Devices (RCDs): Employers must ensure that RCDs are tested regularly by a competent person to ensure they are operating effectively. Any faulty RCDs must be replaced promptly, and records of testing must be maintained.
4. Penalties: Non-compliance can result in significant penalties. For example, failing to test RCDs can lead to fines of up to $4,400 for individuals and $23,100 for corporations
